-Abram believed that God would send the Savior.
- Abram married Sarai. How many children did they have?

-Yes.
- After God made His promises to Abram, what did Abram do?
-Abram left the country where he lived, and followed God to the country where God was leading him.
- To where did God lead Abram?
-God led Abram to a new land called Canaan.
-Do you remember who Lot was?
-Lot was Abram’s nephew who went with Abram to Canaan.
-One day, there was a problem between Lot and Abram.
Let’s read Genesis 13:5-7
5-Now Lot, who was moving about with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents.
6-But the land could not support them while they stayed together, for their possessions were so great that they were not able to stay together.
7-And quarrelling arose between Abram’s herdsmen and the herdsmen of Lot.
-What was the problem between Lot and Abram?
-Abram had many sheep and cattle.
-Lot also had many sheep and cattle.
-Because both Lot and Abram had so many sheep and cattle, there was not enough grass to feed all the animals.
-What did Abram think to solve the problem?
Let’s read Genesis 13:8-9
8-So Abram said to Lot, “Let’s not have any quarrelling between you and me, or between your herdsmen and mine, for we are brothers.
9-Is not the whole land before you? Let’s part company. If you go to the left, I’ll go to the right; if you go to the right, I’ll go to the left.”
-Abram thought that he and Lot should separate.
-Abram thought that Lot should choose where he would live.
-If Lot chose to live in the lowland, then Abram would live in the hills.
-If Lot chose to live in the hills, then Abram would live in the lowland.
-Let’s read what Lot chose to do:
Let’s read Genesis 13:10-11
10-Lot looked up and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan was well watered, like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, toward Zoar.
11-So Lot chose for himself the whole plain of the Jordan and set out toward the east. The two men parted company.
-Lot chose to live in the lowland.
-Why did Lot choose to live in the lowland?
-Because there was much grass there to feed his sheep and cattle.
-Lot was only thinking about grass.
-Lot was only thinking about his many sheep and cattle.
-Lot was only thinking about wealth.
-Lot made a bad choice to live in the lowland.
-Why did Lot make a bad choice?
-Because Lot did not ask God what to do.
-Because Lot refused to listen to God.
-Cain refused to listen to God, and he killed his brother Abel.
-Cain’s descendants also refused to listen to God.
-All of Cain’s descendants died in the flood.
-What will happen if we refuse to listen to God?
-If we refuse to listen to God, we will also die.
-If we refuse to listen to God, we will go to the Lake of Eternal Fire which God prepared for Satan and his demons.
-Will many sheep and cattle or wealth save us from the Lake of Eternal Fire?
-No.
-Lot refused to listen to God, and moved to the lowland.
Let’s read Genesis 13:12-13
12-Abram lived in the land of Canaan, while Lot lived among the cities of the plain and pitched his tents near Sodom.
13-Now the men of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the LORD.
-In the lowland, there were two cities.
-The names of these cities were Sodom and Gomorrah.
-The people of Sodom and Gomorrah did not believe in God.
-The people of Sodom and Gomorrah were very wicked.
-Did God see the wickedness of the people of Sodom and Gomorrah?
-Yes.
-Can we hide anything that we think from God?
-No.
-Can we hide anything that we say from God?
-No.
-Can we hide anything that we do from God?
-No.
-What did God tell Abram after Lot moved to the lowland?
Let’s read Genesis 13:14-15 & 17
14-The LORD said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, “Lift up your eyes from where you are and look north and south, east and west.
15-All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever.
17-Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you.”
-God said that He would give Abram the land of Canaan.
-Here is also what God said to Abram:
Let’s read Genesis 15:5-6
5-The LORD took Abram outside and said, “Look up at the heavens and count the stars–if indeed you can count them.” Then He said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”
6-Abram believed the LORD, and He credited to him as righteousness.
-God also said that Abram would have as many descendants as the stars.
-How many stars are there?
-More than anyone can count.
-Even though Abram had no children, God told Abram that he would have as many descendants as the stars.
-Even though Abram had no children, did Abram believe God?
-Yes.
-Abram believed that God would one day give him a child.
-Abram also believed that one of his descendants would be the Savior whom God would send to save people.
-Here is also what God said to Abram:
Let’s read Genesis 15:13-16
13-Then the LORD said to him, “Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own, and they will be enslaved and mistreated four hundred years.
14-But I will punish the nation they serve as slaves, and afterward they will come out with great possessions.
15-You, however, will go to your fathers in peace and be buried at a good old age.
16-In the fourth generation your descendants will come back here, for the sin of the Amorites has not yet reached its full measure.”
-God also said that Abram’s descendants would go to live in another country, and after 400 years, God would bring them back to Canaan.
-How did God know what would happen to Abram’s descendants?
-God knew all that would happen to Abram’s descendants before they were born.
-Do you know what will happen tomorrow?
-No.
-Do you know what will happen next month?
-No.
-Do you know what will happen next year?
-No.
-But God knows everything.
-God knows what will happen to us tomorrow.
-God knows what will happen to us next month.
-God knows what will happen to us next year.
-God alone knows what will happen in the future.
-When Abram was 99 years old, God spoke to Abram again.
Let’s read Genesis 17:1-5
1-When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to him and said, “I am God Almighty; walk before me and be blameless.
2-I will confirm my covenant between me and you and you will greatly increase your numbers.”
3-Abram fell face down, and God said to him,
4-”As for me, this is my covenant with you: You will be the father of many nations.
5-No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations.”
-God spoke to Abram, and gave him a new name.
-What was the new name that God gave to Abram?
-Abraham.
-Why did God give a new name to Abram?
-Because Abraham would have many descendants.
-God also gave Sarai a new name.
Let’s read Genesis 17:15-16
15-God also said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you are no longer to call her Sarai; her name will be Sarah.
16-I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her.”
-What was the new name that God gave to Sarai?
-Sarah.
-Why did God give a new name to Sarai?
-Because Sarah would also have many descendants.
-Even though Sarah was very old and barren, what did God promise?
-That Sarah would become the mother of many descendants.
-That Sarah would have a son.
-Let’s read what Abraham did when God promised this:
Let’s read Genesis 17:17
17-Abraham fell face down; he laughed and said to himself, “Will a son be born to a man a hundred years old? Will Sarah bear a child at the age of ninety?”
-How old were Abraham and Sarah?
-Abraham was 100 and Sarah was 90 years old.
-Why did Abraham laugh?
-Did Abraham laugh because he did not believe God?
-No.
-Why did Abraham laugh?
-Abraham laughed because he and Sarah were old, and God was going to give them a son.
-How old were Abraham and Sarah?
-Abraham was 100 and Sarah was 90 years old.
-Was God able to give a 100-year-old man, and a 90-year-old barren woman a son?
-Yes.
-Who created the first man?
-God.
-Who created the first woman?
-God.
-Who gives life to every baby?
-God.
-Is there anything that God cannot do?
-No.
-God can even give a son to a 100-year-old man, and a 90-year-old barren woman.
