- Can we hide anything that we think from God?
-No.
- Can we hide anything that we say from God?

-God sees everything.
-There is nothing that God does not see.
-God saw all of the wickedness of the people of Sodom and Gomorrah.
Let’s read Genesis 18:20-21
20-Then the LORD said, “The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous
21-that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know.”
-God knew about the wickedness of the people of Sodom and Gomorrah for a long time.
-The people of Sodom and Gomorrah forgot about God, but did God forget about them?
-No.
-The people of Sodom and Gomorrah forgot about God, but did God forget about their sin?

-No.
-If people forget about God, will He forget about their sins?
-No.
-God cannot forget about sin.
-God must punish every sin.
-Why must God punish every sin?
-Because God is perfect.
-Because God created people perfect.
-Because every sin is against God.
-Why did God not immediately punish the people of Sodom and Gomorrah for their sins?
-Because God wanted them to repent of their sins.
-Because God wanted to save them.
-In the time of Noah, how long did God wait for the people to repent of their sins?
-120 years.
-After the people still did not repent, what did God do?
-God sent a flood which destroyed all the people.
-God waits for people to repent of their sins.
-But if the people do not repent, then God punishes them.

-One day, God sent two of His angels to Sodom.
Let’s read Genesis 19:1-3
1-The two angels arrived at Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gateway of the city. When he saw them, he got up to meet them and bowed down with his face to the ground.
2-“My lords,” he said, “please turn aside to your servant’s house. You can wash your feet and spend the night, and then go on your way early in the morning.” “No,” they answered, “we will spend the night in the square.”
3-But Lot insisted so strongly that they did go with him and entered his house. He prepared a meal for them, baking bread without yeast, and they ate.
-Why did God send two angels to Sodom?
-God wanted to save Lot and his family.
-Before, Lot was living near Sodom.
-Now, Lot was living inside Sodom.
-Before, Lot was living near the wickedness of Sodom.
-Now, Lot was living inside the wickedness of Sodom.
-Do you see what sin was doing to Lot?
-Sin was pulling Lot closer and closer to its wickedness.
-This is what sin does to all people.
-Sin pulls people closer and closer to its wickedness.
-Just as sin pulled Lot into Sodom, what does sin do to all people?
-Sin pulls people closer and closer to its wickedness.
-What happened to the angels when they visited Lot?
Let’s read Genesis 19:4-9
4-Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom–both young and old–surrounded the house.
5-They called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.”
6-Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him
7-and said, “No, my friends. Don’t do this wicked thing.
8-Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them. But don’t do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof.”
9-“Get out of our way,” they replied. And they said, “This fellow came here as an alien, and now he wants to play the judge! We’ll treat you worse than them.” They kept bringing pressure on Lot and moved forward to break down the door.
-The people of Sodom and Gomorrah were very wicked.
-The people told many, many lies.
-The people falsely accused other people.
-The people cursed their neighbours.
-The people stole what belonged to other people.
-The people slept with other men’s wives.
-The people killed other people.
-The men were even having sex with other men.
-Are people today like the people of Sodom and Gomorrah?
-Yes.
-Are we like the people of Sodom and Gomorrah?
-Yes.
-How are we like the people of Sodom and Gomorrah?
-We have told many, many lies.
-We have falsely accused other people.
-We have cursed our neighbors.
-We have stolen what belongs to other people.
-We have slept with other men’s wives.
-We have killed others.
-What did the angels then do?
Let’s read Genesis 19:10-17
10-But the men inside reached out and pulled Lot back into the house and shut the door.
11-Then they struck the men who were at the door of the house, young and old, with blindness so that they could not find the door.
12-The two men said to Lot, “Do you have anyone else here–sons-in-law, sons or daughters, or anyone else in the city who belongs to you? Get them out of here,
13-because we are going to destroy this place. The outcry to the LORD against its people is so great that He has sent us to destroy it.”
14-So Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were pledged to marry his daughters. He said, “Hurry and get out of this place, because the LORD is about to destroy the city!” But his sons-in-law thought he was joking.
15-With the coming of dawn, the angels urged Lot, saying, “Hurry! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away when the city is punished.”
16-When Lot hesitated, the men grasped his hand and the hands of his wife and of his two daughters and led them safely out of the city, for the LORD was merciful to them.
17-As soon as they had brought them out, one of them said, “Flee for your lives! Don’t look back, and don’t stop anywhere in the plain! Flee to the mountains or you will be swept away!”
-The angels took the hands of Lot, his wife, and two daughters, and led them out of the city.
-Did God save Lot because he was good?
-No.
-God did not save Lot because he was good.
-Even though Lot was not like the people of Sodom, Lot was born a sinner.
-Lot also was born into sin like all people.
-Why did God save Lot?
-Because Lot knew that he had sinned against God.
-Because Lot knew that his sin brings eternal death.
-Because Lot knew that God alone was able to save him.
-Because Lot believed that God would send the Savior to save him.
-God always save those who believe in Him.
-What happened after the angels had led Lot and his family outside of the city?
Let’s read Genesis 19:24-25
24-Then the LORD rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah–from the LORD out of the heavens.
25-Thus He overthrew those cities and the entire plain, including all those living in the cities–and also the vegetation in the land.
-God completely destroyed the people of Sodom and Gomorrah.
-God hates all sin.
-God punishes all sin.
-God punishes all sin by eternal death.
-In the days of Noah, God destroyed all the people by the flood.
-At Sodom and Gomorrah, God destroyed all the people by fire.
-When the angels took Lot, his wife, and his two daughters out of Sodom, they said not to look back.
-But Lot’s wife disobeyed.
Let’s read Genesis 19:26
26-But Lot’s wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.
-God turned Lot’s wife into a pillar of salt.
-Why did God turn Lot’s wife into a pillar of salt?
-Because Lot’s wife disobeyed God, and looked back.
-Why did Lot’s wife look back?
-Because she loved her sin.
-Because she did not want to leave her sin.
-God hates sin.
-God always punishes sin.
-God always punishes sin by eternal death.
-If you love your sin like Lot’s wife, God will punish you with death.
-If you do not want to leave your sin like Lot’s wife, God will punish you with death.
