December 12, 2022

“My name is Zipporah L. from western Kenya.  My husband left us three years ago to look for some work in Kericho and since then we have just been communicating through the phone.  Although he sent us some money for our upkeep, he has not been visiting.  As a drunkard I knew my husband was consumed with alcohol.  Thus why he is not coming home. We kept praying for him until three weeks ago when he came back home a changed man.

We were all surprised  as he came home sober unlike all other times when he would come shouting from the gate.  After two days, I felt the courage to thank God and also ask him what happened.  Thus when he pulled some books from his bag and shared them with us.

He told us how he went to church one day after feeling sick and tired of alcohol and found the pastor reading some Bible stories to the congregation from the books he had.  He was attracted to the teachings and attended the teachings each day.  Thus He understood who God was and that he needed a Savior to change his life.

The pastor gave him the books that he read and guided him to give his life to Christ.  Hallelujah,  My husband is a changed man.  He now reads the books to us everyday.  We are a happy family again.  Thanks to the books the pastor gave my husband.”  Zipporah.

“My name is Kevin from Migori county [border of Kenya and Tanzania], and I believe I am saved now from my past bad behavior.  I have been on drugs since I was in grade 7.  I dropped out of school because of drugs.  I have been in prison several times because of selling drugs.

My parents disowned me because of drugs.  When I left prison 4 years ago I have been struggling, as I honestly wanted to change, but I didn’t have the right knowledge of how I could do it.  All the 4 years I tried to earn a decent living but I have kept going back.

One day while I was walking in town, I saw a crowd at Migosi PAG church.  I decided to go see what was happening.  I found a training going on about the Bible.

I listened from outside as the pastor taught about God hearing and listening to the cries of His people.  He promised to send a Savior to save them.  I enjoyed the teachings and every time there was the teachings, I would go and listen. I wanted to know who that Savior was.

I remember one day the pastor was teaching about the types of tribes, and He said we only have two tribes–a tribe of God and a tribe of Satan.  Those who do good are of God’s tribe, those who do evil are of Satan’s tribe,  just like Cain and Abel.  Cain was Satan’s tribe because he killed his brother, Abel who loved the Lord.

I thought of how many young people I have killed in their lives with drugs. How many people have been rejected by their families just like me because of the drugs I sold them?  I am worse than Satan.

The next day I gained courage to enter the church.  I listened as the pastor taught of a Savior God sent for those who he loved, and I thought, “Does God really love someone like me?”   The pastor said God does not want  anyone to perish and he wants all people to be His people.

After the teachings I went to the pastor and asked him to help me know if God really loves me.  He read me some lessons from a book he was holding. He then told me to go and think if I deserve the love of God.

I answer him the following day.  He gave me a copy of the book and he asked me to go and continue reading.  That night I read the book 3 times, and I found out that God loves me too, and He is ready to forgive me my sins.

This was the longest night I have ever had in my life as I wanted to go to the pastor and give my life back to the Lord.  Early in the morning I was there at the church waiting.  When the pastor came, I went straight to him and I told him now that I know God loves me as I was.  I wanted to surrender to Him and ask Him to forgive me.

On Sunday 15th May 2022,  I surrendered to God.  That day the pastor took me to my parents.   They accepted me back and they have been my support.  I thank God for saving me.  I thank my pastor for the teachings and the book he gave me that has changed me and my family.

My parents have opened a carpentry workshop for me as I learnt the skill in prison.  I am now a free and happy man, forgiven by my family and my God. I no longer sleep on the streets.  I have a small room where I sleep.

I want to go and talk to my friends who are in prison and those who are still on drugs.  I believe the God who changed me can change them too.  I want to save some money and make some copies of the books the pastor gave me so that I can take them.

Keep praying for me that I will grow in my relationship with God.  I keep reading the books so I do not forget.”

From the general superintendent of the PAG churches in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda:

“Today I thank God for the impact the chronological booklets have in East Africa.  With 4,500 [copies], we have been giving a [copy] to 4,500 pastors. This means we have reached 4,500 churches in East Africa. with an average of  120 people per church, we have trained an average of 540,000 people in East Africa chronologically.

Some pastors have been photocopying the books to share them with their leaders.  1,000 pastors made 20 copies each, therefore, we have distributed a total of 24,500 [copies] per book.

With PAG having churches in the most remote areas, these booklets have gone as far as Taita Hills in Kenya, Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, and Arua in northern Uganda.  The books have impacted hundreds of families.  The truth has been taught; we are waiting for the fruits.”

“My name is Everlin. I got married at the age of 17 yrs after a long struggle in our family. We lost our dad when I was only 7 yrs and I had to go and stay with my uncle (my Mums brother). He had promised to take me to school, but after one year I dropped from the school as he didn’t pay my fees but turned me to be their house help (maid).

I did all sorts of jobs in the house. I washed clothes for the whole family, fetch water, take care of his cows, etc. It was bad for me but I couldn’t go back home as life was much tougher there. When I was 12 yrs old my cousin (uncle’s son) who was older than me raped me one afternoon and took away my virginity. This kept me crying all day and when my uncle came home, I told him about it but instead he started to hit me, that I am lying about his son. I couldn’t take it so I left and went back home.

At home I tried all I could to make our lives better. I could accompany my mum to do some casual jobs so we can get food. At the age of 17, I got married hoping to be running away from problems, but I was wrong. Because of my worse background my husband treated me us a slave. The love he had promised was nowhere. He started mistreating me. He became violent and my life has been full of pain.

But today I am so grateful to God for a book our pastor started to teach us this year. My husband goes to church every Sunday, but the man who has been going to church is not the same man at home. He lives a double life. He drinks alcohol and hides, but since the book came my life has changed.

Our Pastor has been teaching us about sins that separate us from God. He has been telling us of the true love of God to us and that God does not want any of us to perish. Our Pastor told us from the book that in the world there are only two types of people and only two tribes. Bad people and good people. The tribe of God and the tribe of Satan. Bad people hurt others, good people treat others like themselves.

My husband has been attending all these teachings. As a family we could go to church together yet in my heart I was in pain. Our pastor said that God had sent a Savior to those who wanted to follow him. I kept praying for my family that the Savior would come and save us. Our pastor told us the Savior is JESUS. I called Jesus every day.

One day after our service, my husband came home and asked me to sit where he wanted to talk to me. I was so afraid as I knew that was time to be slapped, but it has been the sweetest time of my life. My husband hugged me and apologized for how he was treating me and our baby. He promised not to mistreat me again, and asked me to pray for him that he would not go back to alcohol again, but he wants to be in the good tribe of God.

My husband confessed that he has been cheating God and he wants the Savior Jesus to forgive him and to help him be a good man. Since then I have experienced a love that I have never had since my birth. My marriage is now enjoyable, my husband has taken my younger brother and is now paying his fees in school.

I thank God for this book. This book that the pastor read to us every morning, changed my life. It has changed my husband. It has changed my marriage. I thank God. We are now reading lesson 47 and my husband wakes us early so that we don’t miss anything. Thank You Lord.”

From the treasurer of the PAG denomination in Kenya.  This is what he had to say:

“PAG Kenya is one of the oldest and among the first 5 denominations in Kenya. We have had many books that have been brought to us by people for us to teach the church, but in my 15 years tenure with PAG, I have never seen a book that has brought such a move in our church.  These books are so simple and straight to the point of the true Gospel.  Every pastor who comes to my office is asking where were the books before?  I have no answer.  Churches have experienced the spiritual growth.  Pastors tell us of people rededicating their lives to a savior they now know about.

In my family for example we used to have a prayer time.  My kids would sleep and never paid attention to what I taught as they took it as a usual church sermon, but since we begun to read the books together they are more attentive with more questions and this has brought back the family bond that I dreamed of.  We now take turns to read the books together. and we have also invited our catholic neighbors whom we can now share the truth with. These books are God sent.  We need them to finish all the lessons.”

Rural Uganda, January 18, 2023

I am Susan, mother of twelve children, and five grandchildren.  I am 62 years old now–a widow due to witchcraft.  Here is how it went:

Birth and Life.

I was born to the late Jacob and Tercilla who are from strong witchcraft background.  I stayed most of the time with my father and this made me see many people come to his shrine.  In this shrine, we had different gods represented, i.e Wajumbe, the god of death and Wamugona, the fertility goddess.

People would visit my father’s shrine and give sacrifices which to my surprise we would eat in the names of gods for they don’t eat, see, talk, or even do anything . . . but we still had to believe–nothing more, nothing less.
In the year 1980, I lost my father, but was made to inherit the shrine as I was the only surviving child.  I made a decree to serve [the gods] wherever I go, including marriage.

Marriage and death of Children

The worst thing–I continued serving and when I got married, I dedicated all my children to the gods of the land, as I was so much possessed with demons.  I offered a lot of sacrifices–not only in the shrines, but also in the graves to please my ancestors and their gods.

To show my love to Walumbe, the god of death, I sacrificed my firstborn and that’s how tragedy began in my family.  Every year I would have to offer till at last my husband.

Every year I would go to their graves.  I hated myself, serving the gods, offering my children, animals,  community members as I did all the human offering in secret, but animals I did publicly.

Chronological story and Salvation.

It was last year when I was lost in thoughts and hoping to die that I met these good grandsons of mine–Mnakenya and Mnyolee (referring to Felix and Joseph).

Though people feared my house, [Felix and Joseph] would come and share with me from small booklets about the holiness of God, His love, and I was so much touched when I came to learn how [demons]  told our ancestors to slaughter their children.  This touched me because it was not only my ancestors, but me as well.  At this moment, I chased them out of my house to let me be judged and condemned.

As they started teaching in Busolwe this year with the next lessons, I called them to my house to share different dreams I have been getting and to pray with me.

It was a struggle but as I prayed a burden was lifted.  I felt a great joy–my grandchildren are so happy that I am transformed.  Every night they read to me these booklets as I have loved to listen to the stories, but I don’t know how to read.  Though I can listen to small English, they tell me the stories in Luganda.

Thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ for accepting to die for me, and teaching me that He don’t need human sacrifice like my ancestors did.  I am transformed child of God.

Thanks for my sons Mnakenya (Felix) and Mnyolee (Joseph) for bringing me this good news with love and being patient with me everyday.

These booklets are good.  Indeed, I lost my children, husband, and family but God has given me another family of love, peace, and joy.  My prayer is to get these books “talking” so I can listen everyday by myself and share with people of my age.

This testimony is so amazing that I called Felix three times to make sure that I understood all of the details.  Felix told me that Susan sacrificed ten of her babies (one baby died “on its own”), but one of her sons survived, and had five children.  Susan believes that her husband died because she put a spell on him, but her son died because of a car accident.  Susan is now looking after her five grandchildren.

As I wrote above, we are currently working on a Luganda translation, and will hope to put together an audio translation after the written in order that people like Susan who cannot read can listen to the audio.  With the testimony above, you can see the degree of evil, yet the hope of salvation with a simple presentation of the Word of God.

These are various testimonies from Felix’s outreach in January.

Sheikh Ibrahim shares later after the crusade, “In my life as a sheikh, all I have been knowing is I am sick.  I need a doctor.  The challenge–I have never been prepared to receive Jesus Christ.  These booklets are so good.  I have been reading and in one week I am filled with joy. My heart is open to the Lord and keep on teaching this message to the Muslim community.”

Sister Sausa says, “I have never thought it’s the devil telling me to disobey God.  I listened to the devil.  Like Noah, I have been a heavy drunkard, and have lived a bad life.  Thanks to God, He still shares His love with me.”

Pastor Peter says: “[My initial] theology made me think so wicked about the children of Israel.  In lesson 29, I have learnt that it is our story.  Like the children of Israel, we have disobeyed the Lord.  May the Lord keep on teaching us simple biblical truths.”

Pastor David had a thought and shared this with us:   “Salvation didn’t start with the Gospels.  We have had a weak foundation, thereby bringing a very negative result.  May the Lord bless you as you keep on teaching with humility.”

“Being a witch is idol worship.  It is worshiping Satan,” says Susan who was formerly a witch.

My name is [name withheld], am a Borana living in [name withheld] village.  Born and raised in a Muslim family. I have gone to madrassa [Islamic school] and have memorized the Quran.  I grew up knowing that Christians are our enemies.

I joined a cattle rustling group where we raided villages and stole their cattle.  The worst I remember is when we invaded a place in [name withheld], killed and burnt houses as we stole their cows.  This has remained in my mind, guilt has tormented me, and have always wondered if God will ever forgive me.

Am married as per the Islamic laws and have children who go to madrassa, but my heart has always been that I don’t want my boys to follow my background.  I have been asking Allah [the Arabic word for “God”] to send me someone who could tell me more about the coming of ISSA [Christ] to judge us as stated in the Quran.

One day on my way to the market, I met some guys who were talking about Jesus.  My spirit told me to ask them–what they were saying–and we began talking and thus how I met Pastor [name withheld] who was teaching them.  I asked him if he could teach me the same and he gave me some books that I have been reading.

Since then, I thank God now that I know the truth,  I have given my life to Christ and I know he has forgiven me.  My family now is no longer Muslims.  I don’t want my boys to kill anyone.  I believe I am born again as Christ died for me too.  I want to belong to the good tribe of God.  I was in darkness but I have seen the light.

If I am to be killed for giving my life to Christ so be it.  I will be happy in heaven with God and not in hell with seven virgins garnishing my teeth [from a Muslim belief].  Please keep praying for me as I plan to move to [another village] with my family.
