In the beginning, where were Adam and Eve living?
-In the Garden of Eden.
-In the Garden of Eden, how were Adam and Eve?
-Adam and Eve were very happy.
-Why were Adam and Eve very happy?
-Because Adam and Eve walked with God.
-Because Adam and Eve had everything that they needed.
-But where was Satan, God’s enemy?
-Satan was watching when God created Adam and Eve.
-Satan knew that God had created Adam and Eve in God’s image, and was very angry.
-Satan knew that God had made Adam chief over all the earth, and was very angry.
-Satan hates God.
-Satan knew that he was not able to defeat God.
-Therefore, Satan decided to defeat Adam and Eve.
-Therefore, Satan decided to destroy Adam and Eve.
-How do you think Satan tried to destroy Adam and Eve?
Let’s read Genesis 3:1
1-Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”
-Was the snake really talking with Eve?
-No.
-Who was really talking with Eve?
-Satan.
-Did Eve know that it was Satan talking to her?
-No.
-Satan had entered the snake.
-Why did Satan enter the snake?
-To hide himself.
-Why did Satan hide inside the snake?
-Because Satan wanted to trap Eve.
-Because Satan wanted to deceive Eve.
-Because Satan wanted to destroy Eve.
-Here is an illustration:
-When a hunter wants to trap a wild animal, does he hide himself to trap the animal?
-Yes.
-What happens when he does not hide himself?
-He cannot trap the wild animal.
-Just like a hunter hides to trap a wild animal, Satan hid to trap Eve.
-Does Satan try to trap and deceive people today?
-Yes.
-How does Satan try to trap and deceive people today?
-Firstly, Satan speaks to us in our minds.
-Secondly, Satan speaks to us through other people.
-Thirdly, Satan speaks to us through demons.
-Firstly, Satan speaks to us in our minds.
-Sometimes, Satan puts his thoughts in our minds.
-We think that the thoughts are ours, but they are Satan’s thoughts that he has put in our minds.
-Satan will tell you not to believe God’s Word.
-That thought is not from God.
-That thought was put in your mind by Satan.
-Secondly, Satan speaks to us through other people.
-Other people might tell you not to listen to God’s Word.
-That thought is not from God.
-That thought was a thought that Satan put in the other person’s mind.
-Other people might tell you, “We have our own beliefs. Therefore, we do not need these new beliefs.”
-That thought is not from God.
-That thought was a thought that Satan put in the other person’s mind.
-Thirdly, Satan speaks to us through demons.
-The demons spoke to your ancestors.
-The demons told your ancestors to burn their children in the fire, and they did it.
-That thought is not from God.
-That thought was put into your ancestors’ minds by Satan and his demons.
-Did Eve know that it was Satan talking to her?
-No.
-Eve did not know that Satan was talking to her.
-Because Satan was hiding himself.
-Your ancestors did not know that Satan was talking to them.
-Because Satan was hiding himself.
-Satan hid himself to trap and deceive Eve.
-Satan hid himself to trap and deceive your ancestors.
-Why did Satan want to trap and deceive Eve?
-Because Satan hated Eve.
-Because Satan wanted to destroy Eve.
-Why did Satan want to trap and deceive your ancestors?
-Because Satan hates all people.
-Because Satan wants to destroy all people.
-Let’s read again the question that Satan asked Eve.
Let’s read Genesis 3:1
1-Satan said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”
-Why did Satan ask Eve this question?
-Satan already knew what God said.
-Satan already knew that God told them not to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
-Why did Satan ask Eve this question?
-Satan asked Eve this question to trap Eve.
-Satan asked Eve this question to deceive Eve.
-Satan asked Eve this question to destroy Eve.
-Let’s read Eve’s answer:
Let’s read Genesis 3:2-3
2-The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,
3-But God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’”
-God did not say that Adam and Eve must not touch the fruit.
-God only said that Adam and Eve must not eat the fruit.
-In God’s Book, we read that God commanded only Adam not to eat the fruit.
-Yet God’s command to Adam was also God’s command to Eve.
-Although God’s Words were written to people living many years ago, God’s Words are also written to us who are living today.
-God does not have one message for black people, and a different message for white people.
-God does not have one message for Africans, and a different message for Europeans.
-God’s message is the same for all people.
-God’s message is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
-What do you think Satan replied to Eve?
Let’s read Genesis 3:4-5
4-“You will not surely die,” the serpent said to the woman.
5-“For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
-What did God tell Adam would happen if they ate from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil?
-They would die.
-What did Satan tell Eve would happen if they ate from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil?
-They would not die.
-God said that Adam and Eve would die if they ate the fruit.
-Satan said that Adam and Eve would not die if they ate the fruit.
-Whom do you think was telling the truth, God or Satan?
-God.
-What was Satan calling God?
-Satan was calling God a liar.
-What else did Satan tell Eve would happen if they ate from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil?
-Satan said they would become like God.
-Can people become like God?
-No.
-Only God is God.
-Satan was lying when he told Eve that she would become like God.
-In the beginning, Satan disobeyed God.
-Now, Satan wanted Eve to disobey God.
-God did not create people to live according to what people say.
-God created people to live according to what God says.
-God did not create people to live by their own rules.
-God created people to live by God’s rules.
-What do you think Eve did?
-Did Eve obey God or Satan?
Let’s read Genesis 3:6
6-When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.
-Satan deceived Eve, and Eve believed Satan.
-Eve disobeyed God, and ate the fruit.
-Adam also disobeyed God, and ate the fruit.
-Adam and Eve listened to Satan.
-Adam and Eve did not listen to God.
-Adam and Eve disobeyed God.
-Adam and Eve sinned against God.
-Because Adam and Eve disobeyed God, they became enemies of God.
-Because Adam and Eve listened to Satan, they became enemies of God.
-Here is an illustration:
-If your friend turned away from you and began to follow your enemy, who wanted to kill you, would your friend become your enemy?
-Yes.
-Because Adam and Eve turned away from God, they became God’s enemies.
-Because Adam and Eve followed Satan, they became God’s enemies.
-What else happened after Adam and Eve sinned?
Let’s read Genesis 3:7-8
7-Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
8-Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as He was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
-After Adam and Eve sinned, what did they realize?
-They realized that they were naked.
-After Adam and Eve sinned, what did they do when they realized that they were naked?
-They made clothes of leaves.
-After Adam and Eve sinned, what did they do when they heard God coming to see them?
-They hid from God.
-Is it possible to hide from God?
-No.
-Why is it not possible to hide from God?
-God is everywhere.
-Before, Adam and Eve were friends of God.
-Now, Adam and Eve became enemies of God.
-Before, Adam and Eve were children of God.
-Now, Adam and Eve became children of Satan.
-Before, Adam and Eve walked with God.
-Now, Adam and Eve hid from God.
-Before, Adam and Eve followed God.
-Now, Adam and Eve followed Satan.
-Before, Adam and Eve did not know evil.
-Now, Adam and Eve knew evil.
-Before, Adam and Eve were not ashamed.
-Now, Adam and Eve became ashamed.
-Whom does Satan hate?
-Satan hates God and all people.
-Satan hates God, and tries to destroy God’s work.
-Satan hates all people, and tries to destroy all people.
-Does Satan want you to listen to God’s Word?
-No.
-Why does Satan not want you to listen to God’s Word?
-Because Satan hates all people, and wants them to go into the Lake of Eternal Fire.
-If you listen to God’s Word, you can learn how to escape the Lake of Eternal Fire.
-If you do not listen to God’s Word, you will not learn how to escape the Lake of Eternal Fire.
-God wants you to listen to His Word.
-Satan does not want you to listen to God’s Word.
-I hope you will listen to God’s Word.
