- In the beginning, who created everything that is in the world?
-God.
- What was in the world before God created everything?
-Nothing.
- If there was nothing in the world, then what did God use to create everything?
-Nothing.
- Then how did God create the world?
-God created the world out of nothing.
- How was God able to create everything out of nothing?
-God is all powerful.
-God’s power never ends.
-God’s power is eternal.
- Is there any limit to God’s power?
-No.
- Are Satan or his demons or people more powerful than
God?
-No.
- Did someone teach God how to create everything?
-No.
- Why did someone not teach God?
-Because in the beginning, there was no one else there to teach God.
-Also, God does not need anyone to teach Him.
- Is there any limit to God’s wisdom?
-No.
- Is anyone more wise than God?
-No.
-In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
-Let’s read what the earth was like before God created everything.
Let’s read Genesis 1:1-2a
1-In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
2-Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep.
-What was the world like before God created it?
-In the beginning, there was no light.
-In the beginning, darkness covered the whole earth.
-Would you like it if there was no sunlight by day?
-No.
-Would you like it if there was no moonlight by night?
-No.
-Would it be terrible if there was no light on earth?
-Yes.
-You would not be able to see one another.
-You would not be able to see to plant your crops.
-You would not be able to see to build your homes.
-In the beginning, there was no light.
-In the beginning, there was also no dry land.
-In the beginning, water covered the whole earth.
Let’s read Genesis 1:2b
2-Darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
-In the beginning, there was no life on earth.
-But there was God the Holy Spirit.
-God the Holy Spirit was waiting to begin his work to create everything.
-Do you remember that there is only one God, but that there are three Persons who are the one God?
-God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit together created everything.
-In the beginning, what did God create the first day?
Let’s read Genesis 1:3
3-And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
-On the first day, God created light.
-How did God create light on the first day?
-God created light just by speaking.
-Can anyone but God create light just by speaking?
-No.
-Here is an illustration:
-One night, you are out in the bush with no light.
-There is no moonlight or starlight.
-It is very black, and you cannot see anything.
-Can you just speak, “Let there be light,” and light will come?
-No.
-God, however, just spoke, and light was created.
-How did God know how to create light?
-God knows everything.
-There is nothing that God does not know.
-Was it difficult for God to create light?
-No.
-Why?
-Because God is all powerful.
-Because there is nothing that God cannot do.
-What did God think about the light He created?
Let’s read Genesis 1:4a
4-God saw that the light was good.
-The light that God created was good.
-This is because God is perfect.
-This is because everything that God does is perfect.
-Men make houses, but sometimes the roof leaks.
-Women make pots, but sometimes the pots break.
-But God created everything perfect.
-Why?
-Because God is perfect.
-What did God do after He created the light?
Let’s read Genesis 1:4b-5
4-God separated the light from the darkness.
5-God called the light “day,” and the darkness He called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning–the first day.
-When God created the light, God did not take all of the darkness away.
-God left some darkness to be nighttime.
-What would it be like if God did not leave any darkness?
-We would not be able to sleep.
-God left some darkness so that we would be able to sleep.
-All that God does is perfect.
-What did God create the second day?
Let’s read Genesis 1:6-8
6-And God said, “Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water.”
7-So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. And it was so.
8-God called the expanse “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning–the second day.
-On the second day, God created the sky.
-How did God create the sky on the second day?
-God created the sky just by speaking.
-Was it difficult for God to create the sky?
-No.
-Why?
-Because God is all powerful.

-God left the rest of the water on the earth.
-What did God create the third day?
Let’s read Genesis 1:9-10
9-And God said, “Let the water under the sky be
gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so.
10-God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters He called “seas.” And God saw that it was good.
-On the third day, God created dry ground.
-Who commanded the water to move back so that the dry ground appeared?
-God.
-Why can God command the water to move back, and the water must obey?
-Because God created the water.
-If a man came to a river, would he be able to command the river to move back so that he could cross?
-No.
-What else did God create on the third day?
Let’s read Genesis 1:11-13
11-Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation–seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so.
12-The land produced vegetation–plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
13-And there was evening, and there was morning-the third day.

-More than anyone can count.
-Why did God create all of the plants and trees?
-Does God need the plants and trees to live?
-No.
-For whom did God create all of the plants and trees?
-God created them for us people.

17-God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth,
18-to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good.
19-And there was evening, and there was morning–the fourth day.
-On the fourth day, God created the sun, moon, and stars.
-How did God create the sun, moon, and stars?
-God created the sun, moon, and stars just by speaking.
-Why do the sun, moon, and stars not fall down from the sky?
-Because God put them there in the sky.
-Because God’s work is perfect.
-What did God create the fifth day?
Let’s read Genesis 1:20-21 & 23
20-And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky.”
21-So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

-Because God is all powerful.
-Because there is nothing that God cannot do.
-How many different fish and birds did God create?
-More than anyone can count.
-Why did God create all of the fish and birds?
-Does God need the fish and birds to live?
-No.
-For whom did God create all of the fish and birds?
-God created them for us people.
-Why did God create all of the fish and birds?
-Because God loves us very much.
