“My name is Mary from Maua. I am married to a drunkard and when he allowed me to go to the conference, it was all smiles for me.
From the first day, I felt loved. Someone washed my feet, and I did the same to another–something I had never done in my life. I felt loved with this proof of the love of Christ for us.
Then, they talked about this spray. This helped me to ask myself whether I was the one who was spraying my husband into drinking? Have I been a good wife to him, what about my God? Have I chased God away, or do I open my heart to Him?
I made a vow that I would go home and would be a different woman despite his abuse. I would show love to my husband and to my God.
During the conference, I kept asking God for something to take home to my husband to prove that I was at the conference. I collected several brochures, yet the best was the chronological booklets that I received on the last day. The teachings were so great, and I made new friends.
When I arrived home, my husband was not drunk, just as I had prayed in the conference. He asked me how the conference was. I first thanked him for allowing me to attend. Then, I showed him the materials we were given. He took one of the books and started reading immediately.
I asked God to reveal Himself to my husband, and that night, we had a blackout–no power. I remembered the candle which they gave me at the conference, and as I lit the candle, I prayed that God would bring light to my husband, and that God’s truths and love would glow in our family.
Lighting the candle, my husband asked me how I knew that there would be no power. He also asked me where I got the candle. I told him that it was from the conference.
Since I came back from the conference, my joy is that my husband has not been drunk. He took the booklets from me and he keeps reading them quietly alone. Please join me as I pray to God to use these booklets to save my husband. Thank you so much as well for the teachers who shared their time and knowledge with us.”
