From Madam Gladys, Gahumbwa school, Kenya
“As a school. we admit children from different communities and backgrounds. We try to give our best to ensure there is co-existence among the students. It has not been easy until last year when we began the chronological lessons. This has made the students sit together without fighting.
One of the students, called Kimai, came to school from a family of drunkards. All of his parents, friends and even neighbors were drunkards. I remember the day that he was brought to school. He came drunk, and we wanted to send him home, but the head teacher thought that we could have him.
Many times, Kimai would sneak out of school to get beer. This was becoming out of control as he had started to influence other students. We suspended him and others for a week, and when they came back, we started to read the Bible stories with them.
Last term, we had a confession from Kimai. He said, ‘Madam, I know I have not been a good student. I have disturbed the school so much–just like Satan did to God. Madam, if the stories in the booklets are true, then my entire village and I belong to Satan–the bad tribe. I don’t want to go to the Lake of Fire. I want to leave this school a good person and a child of God. I need this Savior in my life. Please, Madam. Help me!’
This made me cry, as I never thought he was listening to the teachings in the booklets. I prayed to God to help me to lead him to Christ. We prayed together and continued with the study. When schools closed for the break, I was afraid that he would return to school drunk again. Glory to God, Kimai reported to school sober, accompanied by a church elder. All of the other boys have followed Kimai. All has changed. The school is at peace. Thanks to the booklets!”
Brother, God is at work, salvation comes from Him. I am so happy to have taken the books to Gahumbwa school. God’s mercy on Kimai and his family. Let’s continue to pray for more to know Christ.
Thank you, Jesus, for allowing me to serve with you.
