  1. Was Jesus able to turn the stones into bread?

-Yes.

-Jesus was God.

-Jesus was able to do anything.

  1. What did Jesus tell Satan was more important than food?

-Jesus told Satan that the believing the Word of God was more important than food.

  1. Although Jesus was hungry, why did He not turn the stones into bread?

-Because God the Father did not tell Him to do it.

-Jesus would not obey Satan.

-Jesus would only obey God the Father.

  1. Does Satan know what is written in God’s Bible?

-Yes.

  1. But what does Satan do with God’s Word?

-Satan twists God’s Word in order to trap people.

  1. Why was it possible for Satan to give Jesus control over all the world?

-Because when Adam obeyed Satan, Satan became the master of Adam, of all people, and of all the world.

  1. How did Jesus overcome Satan?

-With the Word of God.

  1. Did Jesus twist the Word of God?

-No.

-Jesus spoke the Word of God as it is written in God’s Bible.

  1. Who is greater, Jesus or Satan?

-Jesus.

  1. Why is Jesus greater than Satan?

-Because Jesus is God.

-Because it was Jesus who created Lucifer as a perfect angel in the beginning.

  1. In the future, what will Jesus do to Satan and to all his demons?

-Jesus will throw Satan and all of his demons into the Lake of Eternal Fire.

-One day, the wicked King Herod put John the Baptist in prison.

-After John the Baptist was put in prison, what did Jesus do?

Let’s read Mark 1:14

14-After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God.

-When did Jesus begin to teach the Jews?

-After John the Baptist was put in prison.

-How old was Jesus when He began to teach the Jews?

-He was 30 years old.

-Jesus taught the Jews the Good News of God.

-What was the Good News of God that Jesus taught?

-The Good News of God is that even though our sin must be punished by death, God was sending the Savior to save us.

-Who was the Savior whom God was sending to save the people?

-Jesus.

-What else did Jesus teach?

Let’s read Mark 1:15

15-“The time has come,” Jesus said.  “The kingdom of God is near.  Repent and believe the good news!”

-What did Jesus mean when he said, “The time is come, and the kingdom of God is near”?

-Jesus meant that the time has come for the Savior, and that the kingdom of God will soon defeat the kingdom of Satan.

-Jesus also taught that people must believe in the Word of God.

-What is the only way a person can please God?

-By believing in the Word of God.

-When Jesus started to teach the Jews, He called men to be with Him.

Let’s read Mark 1:16-20

16-As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen.

17-“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”

18-At once they left their nets and followed him.

19-When he had gone a little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John in a boat, preparing their nets.

20-Without delay he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him.

-Why did Jesus call men to be with Him?

-Because Jesus wanted to teach them so that they would be able to teach other people about God.

-What was the work of some of the men whom Jesus called to be with Him?

-Some of them were fishermen.

-One day, Jesus went to a city called Capernaum to teach the Jews.

Let’s read Mark 1:21

21-They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach.

-When Jesus arrived in Capernaum, He went to the synagogue to teach.

-What was the synagogue?

-The synagogue was the house where the Jews met to read the Bible.

-What did most of the Jews think of Jesus’ teaching?

Let’s read Mark 1:22

22-The people were amazed at his teaching,  because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law.

-Why were most of the Jews amazed at Jesus’ teaching?

-Because Jesus taught them with much strength and wisdom.

-Who were the teachers of the law?

-They were the Pharisees.

-How was the teaching of Jesus different from the teaching of the Pharisees?

-Because Jesus was God, Jesus knew God the Father.

-The Pharisees did not know God the Father.

-Because Jesus was God, Jesus knew the Word of God.

-The Pharisees did not know the Word of God.

-Because Jesus was God, Jesus believed the Word of God.

-The Pharisees did not believe the Word of God.

-As Jesus was teaching, a man who was possessed by a demon cried out.

Let’s read Mark 1:23-24

23-Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an evil spirit cried out,

24-“What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth?  Have you come to destroy us?  I know who you are–the Holy One of God!”

-In the beginning, who were the demons before they became demons?

-In the beginning, the demons were good angels that God created until they followed Satan and became evil.

-Demons like to live in people who do not believe in God.

-A demon was living in this man who cried out.

-Did the demon know that it was Jesus who was teaching?

-Yes.

-Do the demons know that Jesus is God?

-Yes.

-Do the demons know that Jesus is perfect, holy, and hates all sin?

-Yes.

-Do the demons know that Jesus is more powerful than they are?

-Yes.

-Why are the demons afraid of Jesus?

-Because the demons know that Jesus is able to throw them into the Lake of Eternal Fire at any time.

-The demon knew that Jesus had the power to throw him into the Lake of Eternal Fire at that moment.

-What did Jesus reply to the demon?

Let’s read Mark 1:25-26

25-“Be quiet!” said Jesus sternly.  “Come out of him!”

26-The evil spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.

-Jesus commanded the demon to be quiet, and come out of the man.

-Did the demon obey Jesus?

-Yes.

-Why did the demon obey Jesus?

-Because Jesus is God.

-Because Jesus is more powerful than the demons.

-What did the people think when they saw Jesus save the man from the demon?

Let’s read  Mark 1:27-28

27-The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, “What is this?  A new teaching–and with authority!  He even gives orders to evil spirits and they obey him.”

28-News about him spread quickly over the whole region of Galilee.

-The people were amazed that Jesus saved the man from the demon.

-The people were amazed that the demons obeyed Jesus.

-Later that evening, what happened?

Let’s read Mark 1:32-34

32-That evening after sunset the people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed.

33-The whole town gathered at the door,

34-and Jesus healed many who had various diseases.  He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was.

-That evening, the people brought to Jesus all the sick and the demon-possessed, and Jesus healed them all.

-This is because Jesus is God.

-This is because Jesus can do anything.

-Why did Jesus heal all the sick people?

-Because Jesus loved them.

-Because Jesus was sad that they were sick.

-In the beginning when Jesus created the world, there was no sickness.

-But Adam and Eve sinned against God, and their sin brought sickness to all people.

-Jesus wanted to heal the sickness that sin had brought into the world.

-Why did Jesus heal all of the people who were demon-possessed?

-Because Jesus loved them.

-Because Jesus was sad that the demons were making people their slaves.

-In the beginning when Jesus created the world, people were children of God.

-But Adam and Eve sinned against God, and all people became slaves of Satan and his demons.

-Jesus wanted to free the people from the slavery of Satan and his demons.

-One day a man with leprosy came to see Jesus.

Let’s read Mark 1:40

40-A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.”

-What is leprosy?

-Leprosy is a very bad sickness that eats away your flesh.

-In the time of Jesus, there was no cure for leprosy.

-If you had leprosy, there was no medicine for you.

-If you had leprosy, there was no cure for you.

-If you had leprosy, there was no help for you.

-Was the man able to heal himself from leprosy?

-No.

-There was no cure.

-Was any other man able to heal him from leprosy?

-No.

-There was no cure.

-Was a doctor able to heal him from leprosy?

-No.

-There was no cure.

-Why did the man come to Jesus?

-Because he knew that Jesus alone was able to heal him.

-Did Jesus heal him?

Let’s read Mark 1:41-42

41-Filled with compassion, Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man.  “I am willing,” he said.  “Be clean!”

42-Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cured.

-Jesus touched the man, and said, “Be clean,” and the man was healed.

-Only Jesus who is God was able to heal the man.

-How is sin like leprosy?

-Just as the man was not able to heal himself from leprosy, so we are not able to heal ourselves from sin.

-Just as no other man was able to heal the man from leprosy, so no other man is able to heal us from sin.

-Just as only Jesus was able to heal the man from leprosy, so only Jesus is able to heal us from sin.

-Jesus came into the world to heal us from sin.

-Jesus came into the world to heal us from death.

-Jesus came into the world to heal us from Satan.

-No other man can heal us; only Jesus can heal us.
